Want to get a hefty fine from the USDA? Grow vegetables on your farmland. Seems like it would be a better use of government time to keep those downer cows out of our burgers, or herbicides out of the water supply. Another reason we need Farm Bill reform now. However, it doesn’t look like we’ll get it this year, partly due to politics as usual, as the likelihood of an extension of the 2002 Farm Bill grows. In the meantime, what can we do at the local level (Note: page loads slowly.) to help address some of these issues?
